Nov. 8, 2022 - Northern Kentucky University’s annual Veterans Day celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, at the Otto M. Budig Theater on the second floor of the University Center. The ceremony will feature both a Flag Folding ceremony and the playing of the Taps.
In addition to a special Flag Folding Ceremony performed by NKU’s Reserve Officer Training Cadets with support from the Kentucky National Guard, there will be a performance from the Northerner Chorale and live Taps. Veterans Resource Station “Champions of Success” award recipients will also be recognized. Award categories include faculty/staff veteran, faculty/staff civilian, student veteran and student civilian.
According to Veterans Resource Station coordinator Rusty Mardis, “the awards presented are based on how the individual provided, facilitated or coordinated programs and/or services that increased the opportunity of our student veterans, service members and/or their family members in completing their educational goals.”
This year, the Veterans Resource Station is also announcing a new podcast titled, “Tactically Acquired,” in collaboration with the NKU Department of History and Geography. The project will feature stories of active duty, guard, reservists, veterans and ROTC. To listen, visit veterans.nku.edu/podcasts when the podcast launches on Veterans Day.
