April 26, 2023 - Kentucky Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman will be the featured speaker at the NKU Teacher Candidate Recognition Ceremony and inaugural pinning on May 1. Lt. Governor will talk about celebrating teachers, why she loved being a teacher, her favorite teacher and why she feels teachers are important.
The Teacher Candidate Recognition Ceremony honors the 72 graduating seniors in the College of Education’s Teacher Preparation and Educational Studies department. Artwork from students at White’s Tower Elementary School will also be featured, in honor of KYAEA Art Teacher of the Year Shannon Chrisco, who is also speaking.
Before entering politics, Lt. Governor Coleman served the public as an educator, most recently serving as an assistant principal at Nelson County High School. Lt. Governor Coleman is also a basketball coach, public education advocate and founded the non-profit Lead Kentucky, which prepares and encourages women to step into leadership roles.
NKU is excited to welcome her to campus for this ceremony honoring our future teachers.
