May 28, 2024 - Northern Kentucky University’s SOTA Music Prep has been voted best Summer Camp in the 13th Annual 2024 Best of NKY awards! NKU’s School of the Arts (SOTA) 2024 summer programs include the Strings Camp and Chamber Music Workshop, NKU Youth Choir Free Workshop and the Summer Adult String Orchestra.
The Strings Camp is for students with more than one year of experience on the violin, viola, cello or upright bass. At Strings Camp, students will connect and perform with other young musicians from the Tri-State area while receiving high-quality instruction from Master Teachers and Teaching Assistants at NKU. The Chamber Music Workshop is for string students with four or more years of experience. In this workshop, students will work in chamber orchestra and chamber ensemble settings with NKU faculty and staff. Students can register for the Chamber Music Workshop by signing up for Strings Camp. The programs will take place Monday, June 10th through Friday, June 14th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each day.
The NKU Youth Choir Free Workshop is a fun-filled workshop where students will learn new music, make friends and experience singing with a choir. The workshop will take place on Saturday, June 15th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Although the program is free, registration is required.
NKU’s Summer Adult String Orchestra is for all string players ages 18 and over who enjoy the benefits of playing music together in a fun, relaxed environment. Participants in the Adult String Orchestra should be well-versed in how to play their instrument and able to read notes with ease or with practice. The program will meet on Tuesdays from May 14th to July 23rd from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
