Nov. 30, 2021 — On #GivingTuesday, which occurs the Tuesday following Thanksgiving Day, Northern Kentucky University is launching its “Support Your Passion” campaign, encouraging alumni and community members to find and give to a cause on campus that has personal significance.
“We received feedback from our alumni saying they didn't know all the different areas across campus where they could direct their giving,” NKU Director of Annual Giving Jodi Zerbe said. “So this season, we wanted to shine the spotlight on some of those hidden gems across campus. There are so many incredible programs and services at NKU that align with the personal causes of our alumni and community supporters. Of course, anyone can continue to support scholarships or their home college, but they might be surprised to find something new that gets them excited about giving to NKU.”
This year’s #GivingTuesday annual campaign is an opportunity for anyone to support NKU before the calendar year tax deadline. The campaign highlights 17 funds across campus that align with “cause categories” supported through giving.
The “Support Your Passion” giving campaign will run through Dec. 31. Every day through Dec. 17, NKU will feature one program or department on social media that anyone can support, including NKU’s food pantry FUEL NKU, Veterans Resource Station, LGBTQA+ Initiatives and more.
#GivingTuesday began in 2012 with a company in New York City to promote doing good in the community. In 2020, at least $2.47 billion was donated on #GivingTuesday in the United States.
