Dr. Melissa Moon

Melissa Moon with award
Dr. Melissa Moon received the 2025 Benefactor Award from the Kentucky Women's Law Enforcement Network! Her partnership with Northern Kentucky law enforcement agencies on cold case investigations continues to create meaningful, real-world opportunities for our students — and this honor reflects the impact of that work. Beyond her Cold Case Investigation classes, Dr. Moon teaches Data Analysis (PAD 616) in our MPA program, where students learn essential analytic tools for public policy and public service.

Dr. Darrin Wilson

Dr. Darrin Wilson's took a study-abroad class to Australia! The class was called "Parliament vs. Presidency: Exploring Governance Down Under," and it ran from December 26, 2025 to January 9, 2026. Starting in the upper left and moving clockwise, these photos show the group at the Parliament House, House of Representatives, National Library of Australia, and National Museum of Australia.

Dr. Wilson's class was one of a few in the Australia program, which was organized and managed by the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA). All faculty and students in the Australia program had other opportunities to immerse themselves in this beautiful country, such as snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef and hiking the Daintree Rainforest. What a dynamic and amazing learning experience!

Dr. Darrin Wilson was on sabbatical during the Fall semester to write a book that applies the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework to  community-owned business cooperatives. During that time, he also furthered his community outreach and engagement efforts. Specifically, Dr. Wilson co-authored the 2025 annual report of the Louisville Metropolitan Housing Coalition. You can review and download the full report here.

Another example of Dr. Wilson’s recent outreach and engagement efforts is the development of the Economic Impact Statement (EIS) framework for Ohio's Transformational Mixed-Use Development Program. This program "provides a tax credit against development costs incurred during the construction of a project that will be a catalyst for future development in its area."

In addition, Dr. Wilson regularly shares his expertise on local government, economic development, and community development in other ways. He often appears in local media, sharing information and insights. Here's a recent story on FOX19 about the brewery industry in Greater Cincinnati.
