Niki Marengo (MPA 2017) was in the news about the evolution of her outdoor  adventure enterprise. Specifically, she and her business partner announced that they're rebranding it from Arrow Adventure to Arrow Outpost and opening a new venue with a kitchen, bar, and stage in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Pleasant Ridge (see below for story links).

Arrow Outpost will sell new and used outdoor gear, offer classes, and organize community events such as nature walks and bike rides. Niki and her partner decided to move from the suburban city of Lebanon, Ohio, to Pleasant Ridge to be closer to Cincinnati's urban core and more diverse populations.

As some of you know, Niki worked for parks in our region for many years, including serving as Community Engagement Manager for Clermont County Park District and Volunteer Coordinator for Great Parks of Hamilton County. She's also been an adjunct instructor in our MPA program, teaching our Volunteer and Community Engagement class (PAD 622).

The state of Kentucky was awarded nearly $213 million through the Rural Health Transformation program, which was created to lessen the impacts of recent federal cuts by supporting health care in rural communities. This federal program is expected to provide $50 billion nationwide from 2026 through 2030. Congrats to Team Kentucky!

The application process was completed by a partnership of health-related organizations in the state, including the Foundation For a Healthy Kentucky, Kentucky Hospital Association, Kentucky Primary Care Association, and Kentucky Office of Rural Health. Allison Adams (MPA 2008) is the President and CEO of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky.

“We’ve worked for years to tackle some of Kentucky’s toughest health challenges, and we are inspired and energized to see a unified, statewide plan to bring innovation, investment and hope to our rural communities,” said Allison. “This effort reflects the best of Kentucky: partnership, practicality and a deep belief that healthier communities mean a stronger commonwealth.”
